The role of geothermic conditions in distribution of oil-gas content in South Caspian and similar oil-gas bearing basins
Kh.Z. MukhtarovaThe geo-temperature regime of resources is one of the important factors specifying the conditions of hydrocarbons and characterizing the terms of migration and accumulation of oil and gas in the series of sediment rocks. The article presents the results characterizing geo-temperature conditions of oil-gas bearing regions of South Caspian basin (SCB). Besides, analogical parameters have been analyzed in similar oil-gas bearing basins of the world that were compared to SCB. It is noted that the research of temperature regime of Caspian Sea bottom enabled to clearly mark the connection of revealed in its geotectonically different parts oil and gas accumulations with corresponding values of modern geothermic gradients. The degree of warmness of resources in some areas of southern offshore part of PreCaspian depression is questionable. Thus, higher degree of warmness in western part of this aquatorium predetermined the essential gas content of resources, and the lower degree of warmness in the east of the same aquatorium and surrounding onshore (due to the significant power of salty series) – oil content. This regularity may be broken in tectonically active regions, for example, in inner areas of submountain troughs and board zones of intermountain depressions, where high geothermic gradients are distinctive predominantly for oil accumulations.
