The role of impermeable layers in formation of hydrocarbon deposits in South Caspian basin and forecasting of accumulations in Absheron landfall

The paper considers the role of impermeable layers in the process of hydrocarbon migration, formation of deposits and phase composition of hydrocarbons in the fields of South Caspian basin and Absheron peninsula. It is shown that the properties of impermeable layers in South Caspian basin dynamically connected with other components of hydrocarbon systems like structural-tectonic framework, lateral extent of permeable layers. The complex analysis of various geological and geochemical data allowed to reveal the character of hydrocarbon migration and forecast the perspective of Absheron peninsula landfall transitional area.
