1.1-bis-(hydroxycarbonylmethylthio)-1-phenylethan compound esters as multifunctional additives to lubricating oils

Various compound 1.1-bis-(hydroxycarbonylmethylthio)–1-phenylethan esters were studied in M-8 and I-40 lubricating oils. It was justified that these compounds considerably improve antioxidation, anticorrosion and antiwear properties of oils. The best results were obtained from 1.1-bis-(octoxycarbonylmethylthio)-1-phenylethan, 1 % concentration of which exceeded IXP-101 lubricant by efficiency on antioxidation, anticorrosion and antiwear properties. It is shown that 1.1-bis-(alkoxycarbonylmethylthio)-1-phenylethans may be used as multifunctional additives to lubricating oils.
