The article considers the results of researches related to the structure of oil reserves of Paleogene-Neogene deposits of onshore and offshore Azerbaijan. While definition the development strategy of oil-gas fields, it is necessary to take into account the structural features of the deposits (tectonic, geological-geophysical) that influence the geological characteristics and capacity of hydrocarbon reserves. The increase of calculation accuracy of oil reserves with the aim of revealing the current structure of reserves, accepted to the state balance for the long-term developed deposits is especially significant in Azerbaijan. The results of distribution and grouping by oil reserves capacity, stratigraphic age of formation group, bedding depth and completion level are presented. Conducting of researches according to this principle enables to select right direction of geological-geophysical survey and further projects for effective reserve completion.
