The role of geo-baric conditions in the distribution of oil and gas content in the South Caspian Basin and similar oil and gas basins in the world
G.N. GahramanovThe paper researches and compares the position of the South Caspian Basin (SCB) to the world’s largest oil and gas basins genetically unrelated, but having similar basic geological-geophysical parameters. The geological information on the development and distribution of abnormally high formation pressures (AHFP) and rates of abnormality in the sections of sedimentary rocks of different regions of the world have been analyzed. The example of a number of deposits with the AHFP occurring in the SCB indicate that the significant hydrocarbon reserves can be associated with these zones. The data on the super-deep wells drilled in the fields of mentioned basin, a mechanism of reservoir properties preservation in deep-seated structures, thermo-baric parameters at the greater depths and evaluation of oil and gas potential of deep intervals of the Productive Series has been investigated. A brief analysis of the peculiarities of hydrocarbon accumulation distribution at the different depths has been presented. Based on the application of advanced mathematical-statistical methods and graphic visualization, the irregular distribution of hydrocarbon reserves in the studied basins has been proven. It is noted that the comprehensive analysis of the geo-baric characterization data of promising structures, especially in deep-water zones of the SCB, can contribute to a more optimal selection of areas which are of primary interest for the future geological exploration.
