On the issues arising in drilling of Quaternary sediments interval – Productive Series in Umid field

MajidovThe article focuses on the selection of optimum structure for prospective wells and geological-technological complications arising while drilling the interval of Quaternary sediments – Productive Series (PS) in Umid field. The geological-geophysical and field data on complications in well drilling process have been completely analyzed. On the basis of obtained results it was justified that the major reason for the complications appearing in the drilling of interval under I intermediate string is the improper selection of geologically incompatible drilling intervals and ignoring abnormally high pore and reservoir pressures in the upper PS deposits. Drilling mud densities have been selected to prevent the complications in the drilling and with proviso of segregation of certain intervals with high, abnormally high formation and pore pressures.
