The drilling of oil and gas wells, as a rule, is accompanied with gas shows that are one of the widespread complication type. Untimely detected gas shows may result in a loss of expensive well. The paper considers a new method of early revealing of gas shows in well drilling. It offers to measure drilling mud rate in the output from well in two consistent moments. The increase of drilling mud rate allows to define the formation fluid in it. The location of gassed “burst” is defined by the change of drilling mud capacity in the change of flush water rate at the wellhead and their variation by pump productivity in two different consistent moments in corresponding area of annulus.
