Displacement fluid is of great concern in well cementing. A new composition of displacement fluid has been developed for efficient flushing of the filter cake, as well as the separation of drilling mud and mortar while drilling via hydrocarbon based drilling muds. The physical-chemical properties of new displacement fluid have been studied, it particularly revealed that the composition has the lowest boundary tension value. Various surface-active substances and detergent agents were investigated. During experiment were simulated the effects of displacement fluid on the filter cake, thus evaluated the ability to washout the film, formed by an oil-based mud. Under the effect of this composition, the hydrocarbon film has been almost completely destroyed and removed from the filter paper. We researched the effects of the new composition displacement fluid on drilling mud properties and consequently, we suggest its application as a preventive additive.
