Oil potential prospects of northwestern part of Absheron archipelago
A.M. SuleymanovExploration surveys in the lower section of Productive Series within northwestern part of Absheron-Pribalkhanian zone may be considered completed. Due to the development in the clay and flysch facies in the large depths of bedding, Paleogene-Miocene and Mesozoic sediments correspondingly are not accepted as exploration objects. The prospects of oil-gas bearing content of Northern Absheron uplift zone in the eastern-west wing are connected with the traps of litho-stratigrahic type in the pinchout area of Gala and UnderKirmaky suites, and in the northwestern part - with arch traps of carbonate-fractured sediments of Berrias-Valanginian sequence and sandy-argillite horizons of Middle Jurassic. Lithostratigraphic traps of Gala and UnderKirmaky suites should be developed via 3D exploration survey and the presence of hydrocarbon accumulation with direct seismic methods. For studying of oil-gas bearing potential of Berrias-Valanginian carbonate-fractured and sandy-argillite sediments of Middle Jurassic, the drilling of exploration wells on Goshadash and Aghburun-deniz uplifts with 5000 and 4500 m of project depth accordingly is recommended.
