A large mud volcano Otman-Bozdagh located at the intersection of Garadagh, Anart, Miajik folds is situated in the center of interstructural depression. A.A. Alizadeh calls this structural zone triclinic. There are different opinions related to the issue of mud volcanoes genesis. Mud volcanoes both here and in adjacent areas are located on the anticlinal folds of ancient uplifts. By structural concordance between Miocene and Pliocene rock assemblages, when ancient and recent folds mainly coincide, the mud volcanoes are located on the folds of recent structures. In cases, when structural plan of Pliocene sediments does not correspond to more ancient structural plan of Miocene-Paleogene complex and Mesozoic, mud volcanoes are located on the synclinal troughs, downfold, at far slopes and periclines of recent folds (at Otman-Bozdagh). However, they are always located on ancient folds, on the basis of which drilling, i.e. prospecting-exploration survey to reveal gas-condensate deposit is suggested within the territory of mud volcano.
