Definition and modelling of correlation dependence between principal geological parameters of large and giant hydrocarbon deposits
N.M. GaniyevThe paper considers the issue of definition of geological parameters related to the formation conditions of large hydrocarbon accumulations, as well as those, which allow carrying out their potential estimation. The identification of most informative sets of geological parameters, as well as correlation relation between them is of crucial significance in prospecting-exploration surveys for hydrocarbon deposits. The practice justifies that 30-35 geological parameters have high information capability and may be used in the estimation of oil-gas bearing potential in each sedimentation basin. These parameters characterize sedimentation conditions, tectonic environment, and organic matter transformation; identify the areas with maximum oil-gas accumulation etc. Depending on the geological conditions, above-mentioned parameters exist in various correlation connections between each other, which can be described as pair correlation coefficient. The paper presents the data on the correlations between these values, calculated via parameters of large world basins, including giant deposits in Azerbaijan as well. The analysis of these results combined with different visualization methods (including trend lines, correlograms, chord diagrams and clusterization with dendrograms mapping) enables to make conclusions on preferred selection of parameter sets for estimation on the probability of large hydrocarbon deposits formation.
