Distribution and genesis of authigenic glauconite in Productive Series of offshore fields
Ch.M. Khalifa-zadehThe paper presents the data on the structure, nature and chemical constitution of authigen glauconite as well. The distribution of glauconite in Productive Series of North Absheron old zone and Absheron archipelago has been reviewed. Facies profile and optical characteristics of glauconite in studied sections of oil fields, as well as facies origin of researched samples have been provided. Existing concepts of glauconite formation are considered and new concepts of USA researchers on authogenic glauconite formation analyzed in detail. The reasons for inhomogeneous glauconite distribution in littoral and relatively deep-water facies and diagenetic origins of glauconite in Productive Series of Azerbaijan as well have been proved.
