Basic criteria of thermal waters formation on the territory of Azerbaijan Republic
U.S. SalahovaThermal waters are mainly dispersed in Middle Jurassic, Cretaceous, Eocenian, Maycopian, Sarmatian deposits, as well as in Aghjagyl and Absheron stages of Productive Series. These waters are characterized with various chemical compositions. Generally, chemical compositions are influenced mainly by the depth, lithological content, depth faults, natural-climate conditions and other factors. In the formation of thermal waters of Republic the main role belongs to water change, due to which deep and undeep circulation waters appear. Formation of thermal waters in Great Caucasus occur in Mezozoic deposits, where they lie in the form of fissure and viens and feed from atmospheric waters. Ilisu and Boom thermal water zone is attached to depth faults and is formed among metomorphic sediments. Most of the faults has common Caucasus extension. The outflows of thermal waters are concentrated with seperate groups along tectonic faults.
