Implementation of modern processes for obtaining base oils from Baku petroleum

There are currently no facilities for obtaining lubricants in Oil Refinery Plant named after Heydar Aliyev. However, due to research works of Petrochemical Processes Institute, various versions of obtaining base oil from Baku petroleum (unique Balakhany oil, the mixture of low-paraffin oils and those of Absheron, etc.) are presented. The possibility of increasing viscosity index of Absheron oil fraction (330-500 о С) using further hydrocracking process on Al Ni Mo catalyst, and afterwards hydroisomerization on AP-56 catalyst is considered. It is shown that oil viscosity index is possible to increase for 37 units (from 0 to 37). The oil from the same petroleum obtained via combined hydrocracking and selective treatment contains  6 % aromatic hydrocarbons (viscosity index 60), with 1.0–1.5 % of Viscoplex 2-670 viscosity additive it is possible to obtain SAE 10 W–40 oil (viscosity index 102). Base oil from high sorts of Baku petroleum are possible to obtain with combined selective treatment and further hydrotreatment processes.
