Reservoir properties of Miocene sediments and lithofacies of container rocks in West Absheron
K.F. MustafayevMiocene sediments with favorable reservoir properties in the areas located in West Absheron (Binagadi, Masazyr, Sulutepe, Shabandagh, Lokbatan-Puta-Gushkhana, Garadagh, etc.) have oil-gas bearing content of commercial significance. Though in the northern part of the territory dominate clay, clay-sand lithofacies near to the centre and south, they are replaced with sand-clay and sand sediments. Both thickness and reservoir properties of Miocene sediments change at large intervals from north-west to the south-east. Oil flows of commercial significance obtained on a great deal of areas justified the presence of Miocene sediments with reservoir properties for oil-gas gathering in this section. However, drilling new wells meeting corresponding up-to-date standards and study core samples with the purpose of reservoir characteristics research and further investigations using advanced techiques and equipment may be quite efficient.
