Miocene sediments with favorable reservoir properties in the areas located in West Absheron (Binagadi, Masazyr, Sulutepe, Shabandagh, Lokbatan-Puta-Gushkhana, Garadagh, etc.) have oil-gas bearing content of commercial significance. Though in the northern part of the territory dominate clay, clay-sand lithofacies near to the centre and south, they are replaced with sand-clay and sand sediments. Both thickness and reservoir properties of Miocene sediments change at large intervals from north-west to the south-east. Oil flows of commercial significance obtained on a great deal of areas justified the presence of Miocene sediments with reservoir properties for oil-gas gathering in this section. However, drilling new wells meeting corresponding up-to-date standards and study core samples with the purpose of reservoir characteristics research and further investigations using advanced techiques and equipment may be quite efficient.
