Study of nanoparticle influence on clay swelling

The paper is devoted to the clay swelling. The impact of water, water additives, as well as added polymer and nanosize copper (Cu) additives on clay swelling has been studied. It is shown that water-soluble KMS polymer can be slightly reduced to the clay swelling. However, while adding nanosize copper powder into KMS water solution, the intensity of clay swelling is dramatically decreased.
