Mesozoic oil problem in Azerbaijan Primary geological criteria and their confirmation

The paper deals with the confirmation of primary geological criteria in tabular form on Mesozoic sediments prospectively in Azerbaijan. It is noted that a number of primary criteria such as world statistics related to the oil reserves and production on Mesozoic sediments (40-60%), analogy with neighboring region (North Caucasus, Near East and others) have no direct, but indirect attitude to Azerbaijan. Some “direct” criteria, e.g. increasing carbonate content and fracturing towards foot of the Great Caucasus, their oil-gas generation capability and etc. were often estimated non-objectively that negatively affected the problem solution. At the end of the paper are given proposals on works being done in the future.
