The paper deals with the research results of the structural-group content of acids and phenols of Absheron field commercial oil. Studied oil is heavy, less paraffinic and tarry, rich with acidic oxygen containing compounds as well. Acids and phenols isolated from the oil sample via extraction method with differentiation into free and bound (as esters) forms, their structure and composition have been studied by proton magnetic-resonance spectroscopy. Free acids and phenols have been isolated from the oil via alkaline extraction. Their associated forms were isolated after saponification of the oil released from free oil samples. For the investigation of structural-group composition of the acids and phenols, PMR-spectroscopy method has been used. Obtained results justified that free acids, as well as associated phenols are characterized with more paraffinic structures. Similar to associated acids, free phenols consist of aromatic-naphthenic structures.
