The paper studies the impact of geotectonic movements and paleogeographic conditions on the lithofacial features of Meso-Cenozoic sediments accumulated in Kur depression. The research surveys justified that in the powerful Meso-Cenozoic sediments existed quite favorable geochemical conditions for the accumulation of organic substances and their further transition into the hydrocarbons. It enables highly estimating of the prospects of oil-gas bearing content in all studied area. In the solution of set task to obtain more reliable data on the rock complexes, which played the major role in oil generation and trap formation, the stratigraphic sections of the region were developed and compared to the adjoining territory, a block-diagram composed, rocks’ lithofacial composition studied and rate diagram of sedimentation constructed as well.
