Some aspects of completion of full exploration of Balakhany-Sabunchu-Ramana reservoir

The calculation of reserves of Sabunchu-Ramana reservoir, which is considered one of the largest and oldest, was carried out during 1942, 1951, 1974, and in the period of independent Azerbaijan in 2009 via capacity method; the total recoverable and residual reserves justified.

According to the up-to-date calculation data, the reservoir is considered brachyanticline and new structural maps have been developed by the top of Productive Series and bottom of I horizon, by the top of V horizon, Upper Girmaki sand and Lower Girmaki suites as well.

In the view of significant structural-tectonic changes and advancement of database, full exploration and recalculation of the reservoir’s reserves became urgent.

With the aim of full completion of exploration and with supposition of high oil-gas bearing content in the southern wing of Lower Girmaki horizon, it is considered more practicable to conduct drilling works specifically in this block.

Moreover, for full execution of exploration of this huge reservoir, further scientific-research and exploration surveys will considered potential, in case if the borders of Gala suite – the last horizon of Productive Series will be specified
