Specification of transmission speed for elastic waves in drilling process

Sc. - Institute for Oil and GasIn the drilling process, as well as while conducting technological operations several complications (tensions, setting the drilling tool, drilling mud loss etc.), the accurate locations of which are hard to be specified by the drillers, occur.
The analysis of scientific-technical references on this significant issue justified that these complications do not enable to reveal the effect of pressure pulse change of the drilling mud for well conditions.
In this view, for the accurate definition of the depth (location) of occurred complication, it is necessary to specify the value of propagation rate of elastic wave in the drilling pipes, as well as in the annulus of drilling well.
The paper presents corresponding dependencies for the specification of propagation speed of elastic wave in the pipes and in the annular space of the drilling well.
