The paper considers the aspects of risk estimation of oil spills on the environment and its consequences. The results of emergency emptying of oil tank in various rates of filling have been studied. The data analysis for the whole cycle of tank operation showed that the harm from the emergency emptying of the tank with average filling is less than its standard value.

The necessity of scale evaluation of consequences in the specification of the risk of emergency oil spill is marked as well.
