Effect estimation of geological, technological and technical aspects on parameters of deviated wells and the ways of their elimination

The analysis of field data (geology, bottomhole assembly, drilling regime, dipmeter logs) on the drilled deviated well in “Neft Dashlary” field revealed some reasons, which led to its drilling failure.

The poor estimation of the area’s geology while designing the profile of deviated well (formation dips, rock movability, tectonics), wrong selection of bottomhole assembly in the area of stabilization of zenith angle, as well as inaccurate axial load and the drilling method in separate areas of deviated well drilling are some of such reasons.

The evaluation of effect of all mentioned above aspects on the wellbore deviation of inclined well has been conducted based on the theoretical and practical studies.

The results of the effect estimation of these factors on the deviation of inclined wells enable to recommend some methods for successful drilling of other deviated wells.
