Development and study of lubricating compositions on complex ethers of cyclic and aliphatic neopolyols with poly-α-olefinic hydrocarbon oils

Compound ethers of 2,2,5,5-tetrametylolcyclopentanole, 2,2,6,6-tetrametylolcyclohexanole mixtures and pentaeritrite in 1:1 mole ratio have been synthesized with capronic acid. Brand new oil compositions have been developed and studied adding these esters in the ratio of 5−20 % to poly-α-olefin oils. It was defined that these esters significantly improve the exploitation properties of synthesized oils: the viscosity index increases from 121 up to 135 units, and the flash point rises from 215 to 290 оC, while the freezing point decreases from -52 оC to -58 оC. Moreover, significant improvement of thermal oxidative properties of the compositions compared to the poly-α-olefin lubricating oils is seen.
