The paper deals with the problems of the dynamics of deformable systems, to which the oscillations of drill pipes related. The stress-strain state of drill string pipes significantly depends on the contact conditions with the external environment. The study of wave phenomena in the assembly of drill strings is associated by the solution of the problem of eliminating sticking – the loss of mobility of the pipe string in the well, which is not restored even when the maximum allowable static axial thrust is applied to the string. Along with it, the effect of the viscosity properties of the material on non-stationary vibrations of pipes is considered.
