Investigation of the relationship of physical-mechanical and of antifriction properties of polymeric materials

The article is devoted to the study of the relationship between the physical-mechanical and antifriction properties of polymeric materials. The performance of plastic parts can only be guaranteed if the strength and deformation properties do not differ from the values taken in the calculation downward by 10–20 %. In factory practice, non-observance of optimal conditions can lead to a deviation of the mechanical parameters of plastics from the standard values by 20–60 %. A wide variety of geographic and operational conditions for the use of oilfield equipment determine various reasons for their failures: deformation and fracture, corrosion damage, wear and the formation of significant deposits of various substances on the working surfaces of parts contained in operational environments. Among the numerous directions for improving the durability and efficiency of oilfield equipment, the most promising is the use of plastics instead of non-ferrous and ferrous metals and the isolation of equipment surfaces with thin-layer polymer coatings.
