Determining the hydrocarbon potential of our country, preparing a long-term production forecast, replacing oil, gas and condensate reserves in order to compensate for the drop in production, specifying energy sources and forecasting the energy supply of our country are the main strategic goals. In order to achieve the set goals, it is very important to search and evaluate prospective areas, involve these areas (fields) in development and ensure their efficiency. From this point of view, it is important to reduce the uncertainties regarding the area limits and volume of hydrocarbon reserves. All this requires targeted and accurate geological-geophysical and mining research.
Involving C2 category hydrocarbon resources in the development of perspective fields requires, first of all, the creation and prioritization of a portfolio of these fields. To determine the priority of prospective areas included in the portfolio, the main criteria should be determined. Here the main criteria can be geological, technical and economic. Depending on all the specified criteria, details of the assessment of fields/prospective areas are determined, such as points for drilling appraisal wells, their number, depth, horizon, geological, geophysical and field studies. We consider the approach studied in the article to be relevant and can be applied to assess the prospects of areas with reserves of category C2. The results obtained make it possible to increase the efficiency of the process of involving hydrocarbon reserves in development.
