On the hydrocarbon prospectives of the Lekbatan-Puta-Gushkhana tectonic belt in the absheron oil and gas basin (AbOGB)

For the correct choice of directions when searching for oil and gas deposits in oil and gas formation basins, one of the main criteria is favorable conditions. This depends on the timing (in geological terms) of the continuation of favorable paleotectonic and paleogeographic circumstances. The results of the analysis of the conditions of sedimentation of the sediment complex show that the West Absheron oil and gas zone was formed in the Paleogene-Miocene time starting from the Pliocene. At the end of the Miocene, the sedimentation basin was intensively dislocated. Due to the creation of partial washout of sedimentation deposits, Miocene deposits of different ages are inappropriately covered by young Pliocene-Anthropogen deposits. And this leads to the formation of lithological-stratigraphic reservoirs. Based on this idea, many researchers believe that promising oil and gas reservoirs of lithologic-stratigraphic type can develop in Miocene deposits.
Thus, in order to study the distribution of the reservoir space of the PT and the underlying layers (Diatom and Maykop), the 2D seismic data was re-analyzed. Based on the analysis results, the following properties of the belt under study can be noted:
– the tectonic structure of the belt is not repeated within the sea;
– the oil and gas potential of the belt is associated with deep sediments;
– mud volcanoes can be migration routes;
– litho-facial models show that there are no clay “caps” on oil structures.
