Injection of untreated water into the reservoir to maintain reservoir pressure of oil and gas fields leads to contamination of the reservoir with various microorganisms, which increases corrosion aggressiveness.
This article shows the role of bacteria in the corrosion destruction of oil-producing equipment at the Guneshli field. Laboratory studies have shown that the microbiological factor plays an important role in the pitting corrosion of P-105 steel.
The microbiological study was carried out by sampling formation water from flooded production wells at the Guneshli field. During their studies, a certain correlation was observed between the number of sulfate-reducing bacteria and hydrogen sulfide. Thus, in an environment with a high SRB content, an increase in hydrogen sulfide is observed. At the same time, with an increase in the population of sulfate-reducing bacteria, a decrease in sulfate ions was observed.
Microbiological analyses showed that iron bacteria actively reproduce with high aeration and, conversely, in cases where the degree of aeration is low, the number of sulfate-reducing bacteria increases.
The amount of H2S and sulfate ions in formation waters of wells can depend not only on the number of the corresponding microorganisms present there, but also on their activity and the creation of the necessary conditions for their development.
