Reduction of asphaltene-resin-paraffin deposits (ARPD) formation intensity can be achieved by oil transportation under conditions of minimum temperature differences in the transportation pipeline. A promising method of preventing the formation of ARPD is to cool the oil to a temperature slightly below that which may occur during its transportation through the pipeline. And increasing the heat treatment temperature has a positive effect in reducing the temperature characteristics. By reducing the cooling rate, the crystallization onset temperature and freezing point can be reduced. On the other hand, lowering the crystallization onset temperature and freezing temperature results in lowering the temperature of crystal degassing process in the transportation pipelines and processing equipment communications.
A new reagent under the trade name PÇI has been developed to prevent asphaltene, resin and paraffin deposits. Adding the reagent to heavy oils reduces the viscosity of paraffinic oils. The highest efficiency was achieved at an optimal dose of 200 g/t. The formation of the PQI reagent is prevented very quickly, since the adhesion and cohesion forces are sharply weakened as the oil moves up the well, resulting in a very low percentage of paraffin crystals settling on each other and on the metal pipe. This leads to increased cost-effectiveness due to an increase in the interval between repairs.
