Oil and gas prospects in terms of lithofacies and tectonic factors of the southern zone of Absheron archipelago in the case of the Bahar field

In order to clarify and evaluate the information about the oil and gas potential of the southern zone of the Absheron archipelago, the lithofacies characteristics of the sediments along the stratigraphic section of the Bahar field were studied, the paleogeographic and tectonic development conditions of the research area were studied. For this purpose, the development relationship of paleotectonic and geographical factors was investigated, and the oil and gas potential of the area was comprehensively investigated. Identified that there were favorable sedimentation conditions for the accumulation and storage of organic matter in the sediments during the Productive series age in the Bahar field. Sedimentation occurred under favorable conditions. This is an important indicator of the formation of hydrocarbon deposits. It should be noted that the formation of non-anticlinal type traps in the research area allows us to make an opinion about the favorable geotectonic conditions. All mentioned indicates that the Bahar structure is prospective for oil and gas and continuation of exploration work is advisable.
