Research on limiting water inflow into a well using hydrophobic composition

The intensity of flooding of wells exploited at fields that are at a later stage of development increases sharply. Flooding of production wells leads to undesirable consequences and economic losses. Since, large amounts of money are spent annually on the preparation and disposal of water, which is extracted from wells together with oil. Flooding of wells also creates serious problems in the processes of production and transportation. Aggressive components and mechanical impurities contained in the water extracted together with oil intensify corrosion and erosion processes in pipelines and equipment, which leads to their premature failure. The resulting leaks pollute the environment and disrupt the oxygen balance of the surface layers of water and soil. Flooding of the products extracted from wells also creates serious problems in the process of primary oil refining. By using modern technologies to limit water inflow into an oil well, it is possible to significantly reduce operating costs and increase oil production. One of these technologies is to reduce phase permeability for water by treating the bottomhole zone with hydrophobic compositions. This article is devoted to the development of a new hydrophobic composition consisting of a mixture of acidol and soapstock, and experimental studies of its effect on limiting water inflow from the formation into the well.
