Analysis of horizontal well performance with installed zonal isolation packers in relation to geological structure

Shashin, Almetyevsk, RussiaThe major oil fields of the Republic of Tatarstan are currently at a late stage of development, which underscores the growing importance of maintaining current hydrocarbon production levels. One of the key strategies to address this challenge is the development of hard-to-recover reserves. In the Volga–Ural region, carbonate formations of the Lower and Middle Carboniferous are of particular interest, as they contain approximately one-third of the currently recoverable oil reserves. The geological structure of these reservoirs differs significantly from that of terrigenous collectors, necessitating additional research as well as the development and testing of new, unconventional approaches and methodologies. Implementing such measures can enhance the efficiency of carbonate reservoir development. Based on the analysis of horizontal well performance in the context of geological features, this paper presents recommendations aimed at optimizing the development of carbonate fields.
