Transition to the digital economy and the 4th industrial revolution
G.A. Safarov Dr. in Ec. Sc. - Azerbaijan Stste Oil and İndustry UniversityThe main purpose of the article is to study industrial revolutions, their characteristics, the transition to the digital economy, their tools, examples of the transition to the digital economy in Azerbaijan and work styles.
The article studies industrial revolutions, the digital economy and their computational tools in economic literature, and uses historical and situational approaches.
After regaining its independence, the Republic of Azerbaijan is integrating into the world economy and is carrying out various reforms to modernize its economy. Despite the calls from around the world, a lot of work has been done and continues in Azerbaijan in the field of digitalization of the economy, establishment of electronic government, and ensuring the accessibility of public services to citizens. Thus, the establishment of electronic government (“e-Government”) in developed countries of the world can be considered as a further expansion of democracy and improvement of the accessibility of services provided by various state institutions to citizens of the country and abroad. Recently, the concept of “green economy” has often been encountered in the economy.
Green economy or ecologically sustainable economy implies a transition to the production and consumption of goods and services that minimize negative impacts on the environment. It is based on the principles of sustainable use of natural resources, minimizing negative impacts on the environment, increasing energy efficiency and developing renewable energy sources, in other words, greening production. Green economy is the newest way to obtain and use resources while significantly reducing the negative impact of human economic activity on nature, that is, on its living environment. Therefore, the development of such an economy in Azerbaijan is one of the urgent tasks.
The article considers the green economy as a model of socio-economic development of society that takes into account the interests of the general economy and ecology, and studies it as an economy with low carbon emissions, efficient use of resources and meeting the interests of the whole society.
