Problems of exploitation of residual reserves of oil and gas fields under long-term development

Undoubtedly, the oil and gas industry, which has more than 150 years of experience, plays an important role in the economic development of our country. During this long period, 81 fields were discovered onshore and offshore in Azerbaijan, and a total of about 700 promising structures were identified. As a result of the unique amount of work carried out by the permanent leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in the field of revival of the oil and gas industry during the period of independence, new hydrocarbon reserves of our country were discovered, increased and large fields (Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli, Shah Deniz) were involved in development. However, along with these fields, fields that have been developed for a long time also play an important role in ensuring oil and gas production in our country. Such actively developed fields are especially important for meeting the domestic needs of our country for oil and gas. In this regard, the effective development of the remaining reserves of oil and gas fields operated by both the State Oil Company (SOCAR) and operating companies (OC) operating in our country is an urgent problem. However, the problems that have recently arisen in the development of the fields operated by the Company, in particular the weakening of work to increase production and involve new fields in the development, confirm the relevance of the article on this pressing topic.
