The paper presents the results of an analysis of the application of robotic systems in well drilling operations. Operational experience with drilling rigs demonstrates that the automation of routine, labor intensive, and hazardous processes is not only economically justified, but also a necessary prerequisite for the development of modern drilling infrastructure.
It is shown that the robotization of drilling processes represents a natural stage in the technological evolution of the oil and gas industry. The implementation of robotic drilling systems contributes to improved working conditions and enhanced personnel safety, increased drilling performance, and a reduction in non productive time associated with drilling operations under various geological and climatic conditions.
It is noted that the application of robotic technologies and adaptive control systems, based on principles successfully validated in robotics, is a strategically important direction for the development of next generation automated drilling systems. In this context, the integration of artificial intelligence techniques plays a key role in increasing the autonomy, reliability, and overall efficiency of robotic drilling complexes.
