Problems of exploitation of residual reserves of oil and gas fields under long-term development and the geological and technical basis of measures to compensate for production (2nd Part)

Ahmadov PhD in Soil Sc. - SOCARThe first part of the article analyzes the development and identifies new prospects for improving the efficiency of field development and exploitation at oil and gas fields operated and developed over a long period by oil and gas producing companies in our country. Over the long history of the oil and gas industry onshore and offshore Azerbaijan, 81 fields have been discovered, and approximately 700 prospective structures have been identified. Based on historical statistical data, it can be noted that fields in long-term development have continuously supported our country’s oil and gas production. Such actively developed fields have acquired particular significance for satisfying domestic demand for oil and gas in our country. Therefore, the effective development of residual reserves at oil and gas fields operated by both the State Oil Company (SOCAR) and operating companies (OCs) operating in our country and maintaining stable production, are crucial tasks. However, challenges in developing long-term fields–in particular, declining production and the development of new sites–require enhanced geological and technical measures.
