Prospects of using alternative energy sources in preparation for transportation of well product in offshore gas-condensate fields
E.Kh. Iskandarov - Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry UniversityOne of the serious problems in the development of offshore gas-condensate fields is associated with the multiphase and multicomponent nature of the flows. In this regard, high energy consumption occurs in the systems of intra-field collection and transportation of well products. The collected operating experience shows that the depth of gas penetration is determined not only by the temperature of the seabed along the pipeline route, but also by the length of the pipeline, its diameter, pressure at the inlet, flow rate and hydraulic losses along the route. Such problems in the development of offshore gas-condensate fields lead to high energy consumption in well production and transportation systems. This is also due to the presence of vertical downstream and upstream sections within offshore pipeline systems. In such flows, the formation of pressure pulsations due to the narrowing of the live cross-section of the pipeline as a result of the accumulation of the liquid phase in the horizontal sections of the pipe leads to a further increase in energy consumption. In particular, the accumulation and transportation of multiphase well products (gas-condensate mixture) through a pipeline leads to an increase in hydraulic resistance, as a result of which great difficulties arise in controlling flows.
Depending on the distance of offshore platforms from the coast, the total development costs of gas and gas condensate fields, as well as energy consumption, can increase significantly. Therefore, economic considerations in the development of offshore gas-condensate fields require a significant revision of some provisions in the design of offshore pipelines.
The article extensively studies the prospects for the application of alternative energy sources in the process of preparing well products produced in offshore gas-condensate fields for transportation. Taking into account the limitations of traditional energy sources, their economic and environmental problems, the possibilities of integrating solar, wind and wave energy into technological processes are investigated. The energy requirements of gas drying, separation and compression processes are analyzed, and the economic and environmental advantages of the application of alternative energy systems are substantiated. Practical proposals are given for the creation of hybrid energy systems and increasing energy efficiency.
