Assessment of the residual life of gas pipelines based on internal condition diagnostics
M.B. Adygezalova Dr. in Tech. Sc. - Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry UniversityPipelines, as one of the key components of the oil and gas sector, are the most widely used, safe, and efficient means of transporting hydrocarbon products over both short and long distances under offshore and onshore conditions. According to the classification of industrial facilities, oil and gas pipelines belong to the group of equipment operated under pressure. Depending on operating conditions, pipelines are subjected to numerous external and internal impacts of various nature, which over time lead to technical deviations–defects–in pipeline structures. These defects affect the operational performance of pipelines in different ways and may pose serious threats to their normal operation. One of the factors disrupting the normal operation of pipelines, including gas pipelines, is the deposition processes associated with phase transformations occurring within the pipes. This article presents the results of studies conducted to determine the composition of deposits accumulated in a main gas pipeline, as well as to investigate the intensity of their deposition on the internal pipe surface and their corrosive effects.
