Analysis of the Eocene facies in the Middle Kura Basin shows that it occurred in a marine basin with a decreasing geochemical environment, including volcanic products, terrigenous and sedimentary materials. This leads to the formation of subsidence and uplift zones, changes in conditions in the sedimentary basin, as well as changes in the composition of materials entering the basin at different times.
Paleogeographic conditions play an important role in determining the lithofacies characteristics of sediments, the uplift of the basin bottom, as well as the boundary between land and sea. In determining the oil and gas potential of the region, in studying the structures of individual local structures to determine whether there are favorable conditions for the accumulation of oil and gas, along with paleogeographic conditions, paleotectonic conditions also play a major role. Favorable tectonic and facies conditions existed in the mentioned sediments. The terrigenous-carbonate reservoirs of Eocene sediments in the intersection of the complex are characterized by more favorable conditions for the search for new oil and gas fields in the southeastern part of the Greater Caucasus. The accumulation of hydrocarbons in the reservoirs of these sediments in the form of deposits indicates the presence of favorable geological conditions in the side part of the Kura depression.
