On the development of the scientific basis of the process of radionuclides in produced water in oil production through the application of nanotechnology
E.G. Shakhbazov Dr. in Tech. Sc. - Azerbaijan Oil Industry journalThe accumulation of salts and radionuclides in produced water leads to scale formation in pipes and reduced process stability. Salinization causes deposits and corrosion in pipes, pumps, and heat exchangers. This increases radiation levels in the oil production industry, shortens equipment life, and reduces production efficiency. This study examines a long-standing problem in the oil production industry, which can be solved using modern nanotechnology.
This article focuses on the development of a scientific framework for addressing the problems of radioactive fallout (NORM), reduced process stability, and scale formation in pipes caused by naturally occurring radionuclides (226Ra and 228Ra) in produced water during oil production, using modern nanotechnology methods. The principles of synthesizing functionalized superparamagnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4) for the selective removal of radionuclides from produced water under high salinity conditions and a competitive ionic environment (Ca2+, Ba2+, etc.) are explored.
These results are fundamental to ensuring environmental safety in the oil production industry, extending equipment service life, and improving production efficiency.
