The results of investigations of the first obtained colloid stability of the main, middle- and high- alkalinous sulfonated additives on the basis of sulfomethylated alkylphenols are given in the article. It has been defined that the stability of the investigated additives to action of water is determined by peculiarities of their colloid structure. With the growth of alkalinity increases the content of colloid dispersion of calcium carbonate in additives and increase their water stability. Highalkalinous hydroxyalkylbenzilsulfonates of calcium have high colloid stability. The stability of colloid dispersion of middle - alkalinous additives is lower than the stability of highalkalinous additives. The main sulfonates not containing calcium carbonate, by colloid stability to a marked degree yield the alkalinous additive. It is connected with higher stability to action of water of micelle structure. It has been defined that with the growth of the length of alkyl radical increases the stability of alkalinous sulfonates to action of water. Among the middlealkalinous sulfonates of alkaline- earth metals (calcium, strontium, barium) the most water stability has strontiumcontaining additive. The obtained datum is correlated with the results of investigations of dispersant properties and stability against oxidation of middle- and highalkalinous sulfonated additives before and after the treatment by water. It has been shown that the more the colloid stability of sulfonated additives the less make worse the functional properties of them in the presence of water.
