Application of propylene glycol ethers of oil acids to diesel fuels as an additive
A. H. TalybovThis article is devoted to application of ethers based on preparation from oil acids (260 - 310oC fraction) and propylene glycol - 1, 2 as an oxygenated additive to diesel fuels. Synthesis of ethers has been occurred over heterogeneous catalyst and optimum condition has been applied. It has been defined that the efficiency of etherification reaction (87.7%) has been obtained for 9 hours, over 3% acidic Ceokar 600 catalyst at 140оC temperature and in the ratio of 1:3 or reactants. Then physical and chemical properties of esters have been studied which were obtained in the optimum conditions. To study application of these ethers as an additive to diesel fuels, compositions of ethers - diesel fuels have been prepared and their physical, chemical properties have been studied. It has been detected that 10% composition is advisable as fuel. In addition, chemical composition of waste gases obtained from burning of 10% composition has been studied and compared with pure distilled diesel. Consequently, in a comparison to pure distilled diesel with 10% composition, 25% smoke formation and amount of CO approximately decreased 6 times during the burning. Considerable change hasnt been observed in the amount of SO2 and NOx. As a result, uses of ethers based on preparation from oil acids (260 - 310oC fraction) and propylene glycol - 1.2 are advisable as 10% oxygenated additive to diesel fuels.
