Description of Jafarli uplift in Muradkhanly OGD on the basis of new geophysical data
S.R. MammadovaSeismic exploration works were carried out by up-to-date method in Muradkhanly and Jafarli areas in Middle Kura depression, which is very perspective by oil and gas content. These structures hypsometry, lithologic character, as well as stratigraphical and tectonic indications absolutely differ from each other. We think these discrepancies reflected in seismic records occur in the result of magmatic process. It is possible there were volcanic or sub-volcanic processes in such local areas as Muradkhanly, Jarly, Garajaly and etc. in Upper Jurassic, Lower and Upper Cretaceous. There are many indications, certifying formation of structure, connected with magnetic processes, which are reactive in Palaeogene period then. For example, intrusive rocks with syenite-diorite composition were open in 3500-4250 m depth in wells #1 and 3 in Garajaly. The temperature and geodynamic pressure of magma decreased and it could not reach upper layers and placed in definite level and began cooling down there. In this result non single form condition in the shape of transition zone was formed. Thickness in the upper part of these mass with uplift form was 200-2000 m. New data of Jafarly structure specialized with the mentioned indications were presented and magmatic-intrusive process role in the formation of structure was shown. Geological structure of Jafarly uplift was specified by seismic exploration field observation method (3D) and it was determined that Jafarly uplift structure (3800 m) of Mesozoic sedimentary complex in Upper Cretaceous period is asymmetric. The structure arch is closed by isohypse of 4220 m, the measures are 2.4x1.6 km, the amplitude 50 m. Its south-west periclinal in the near arch part was broken with 10m amplitude in comparison with the arch and fell. North-west limb of the structure was separated from Muradkhanly uplift by shallow saddle, east periclinal was separated from Hasanly structure by close, comparatively deep and large syncline. Fault amplitude is about 2550 m. In the article was also shown that oil in Jafarly area is obtained different horizons of Middle Eocene sedimentary complex and it was mentioned that Mesozoic sediments are perspective regarding oil-and-gas content.
