Results of studying Western Absheron and South- E ast Gobustan through geological - geophysical and research - exploration work

Geological structure and oil - gas content of PL in western section of Absheron OGR has been studied sufficiently through geophysical works and research - exploration wells. As a result of these works oil and gas fields of industrial importance have been discovered and commissioned. However, oil - gas content of Miocene section of Western Absheron has not been defined sufficiently through seismic exploration and deep drilling due to complexity of structural - tectonic features of region and inconstancy of lithofacies. As a result of drilling research - exploration wells in South - East Gobustan, oil - gas streams of industrial importance were received from PL, Diatom, Chokrak, upper Maykop reservoirs. Notwithstanding this, results of seismic works and deep drilling carried out with these deposits in research zone (Jeyrankechmaz depression) may not be considered quite satisfactory and efficient, that is oily - gaseous potential of Mesocainozoe deposits still have to be studied.
