The article is dedicated to improvement of methods on operation and regulation of oil - gas field equipment during overhaul of wells. Preliminary investigations show that main shortage of jawed pipe holder instrument is that contact area with pipe is not evaluated optimally and this has an adverse impact on working process. In this regard, there is a need for improvement of investigation and calculation methods of parameters of pipe holder instrument. The following issues have been dealt and settled in the article: -distribution of pressure on pipe surface hold by jaw; -sliding of jaws on pipe; -specifying approximation of pressure distributed from jaws to pipe; -studying of strained deformation of system. In order to specify methods of identifying parameters of wedge pipe holder system experiments were carried out under stand condition. Alteration resistance of deformation in experiment tube has been recorded in strain-gage sensors. According to the results of disperse analysis, regulated parameters may be assumed the value of loading and angles generated by slanting surfaces.
