Identification of gas misbalance in Galmaz underground gas storage and optimum volume of cushion gas

GurbanovIt is necessary to increase efficiency of operation of Galmaz and Garadagh underground gas storages operating in the republic and their volume with purpose of presence of enough perspective gas-condensate fields in Azerbaijan, optimal prediction of their resources, increase of internal gas needs of the country and its reaching the high level in future, provision of reliability of natural gas transportation to remote distances. Reconstruction and extension of underground gas storages is needed in order to increase reliability of export gas (12 bln. m3), adjustment of irregularity of gas supply of the country (18 bln. m3) together with having active gas volume more than 3.0 bln. m3. Losses of gas occur at the result of overloading of gas flow in underground gas storages in both directions and it has an adverse impact on normal maintenance of periodical operation. Therefore it is of practical importance to eliminate misbalance (upset of balance) in cushion gas volume in Galmaz underground gas storage to be reconstructed, to identify average minimum formation pressure and optimum cushion gas volume in accordance with project.
