Oily-gaseous perspective of deep laying structures of Absheron archipelago and main directions of research-exploration works performed

G.N. Gahramanov

Hydrocarbon (HC) fields opened at 10 km depth of a number of basins of World Ocean in recent 10-15 years once more prove that the probability of opening oil-gas-condensate fields in such depth in South Caspian depression is also high in terms of depth of depression-collection complex, and richness of oily gaseous nature. Palaeogene-Miocene and Mesozoic deposits are located in high depths of South Caspian and their oily-gaseous nature is mainly related to tectonic uplifts zone. According to the results of research-exploration and drilling works with different methods, currently about 80 local uplifts were defined in Azerbaijan sector of South Caspian. According to the estimations of specialists, total volume of HC reserves in Azerbaijan area of Caspian for the date of 01.01.2011 is forecasted about 10 mlrd equivalent tons, which extractable reserve makes 3.1 3.2 mlrd. ton. Findings of scientific-research and practical works carried out in recent years prove that oil-gas-condensate collections of industrial importance with rich reserves are namely concentrated in large scale structures. So, research-exploration works carried out in majority of structures gave positive results, and contributed to development of oil-gas industry of our republic. Re-zoning of oily-gaseous areas in SCD where HC reserves are concentrated, assessment of resources on these directions, detailed study of sea bed relief is one of the most important issues.
