Assessment of рetroleum potential of sedimentary rocks in Pre-Caspian-Guba oil and gas bearing region via modern methods

The question of organic substance division by types depending on their origin is reviewed on the basis of new data. However, the determination of the type of organic substances provides important information about hydrocarbon formation conditions and their types in research area. The research works carried out in Pre-Caspian-Guba oil-gas bearing region show that Maikop, Cretaceous and Jurassic sediments are rich with hydrocarbon forming organic substances. It should be noted that as a result of conducted research works it is determined that Maikop and Cretaceous sediments have an oil-gas generation, and Jurassic ones have a has generation potential.
