Though development of onshore oil fields in Azerbaijan is at the last stage, there are enough residual oil reserves and the article deals with investigation of new directions of increase in efficiency of the method of pulsed neutron neutron logging (PNNL), one of the most necessary geophysical methods in their development. Complex geological properties of Azerbaijan oil fields waters having weaker mineralization degree compared with chloride of layer water, heavy hydrocarbon extract of residual oils and non - homogenous rocks represented with are the factors influenced on efficiency of investigating PNNL. In the result of laboratory mine investigation carried out in this direction, new technology of the same method has been suggested, mine tests have been carried out and positive results have been obtained. Besides, carrying out wide mine exploration can be appreciated as a perspective direction of development of residual oil reserves.
